The Council Bluffs Community School District Board of Education conducted business and seated new members at a pair of meetings Tuesday at district offices in the Omni Centre Business Park.
In its regular meeting, the board awarded the contract for a roof replacement project to Black Hawk Roof Co. of Cedar Falls for about $1.13 million, according to information provided to board members. Black Hawk submitted the low bid, which was $123,765 lower than the cost estimated by HGM.
The roof contract includes replacements at Wilson Middle School (67,000 square-feet), Edison Elementary (16,000 square-feet) and Roosevelt Elementary schools (13,000 square-feet), as well as removal and haul away of old roofing materials.
Work is to be completed by the end of September 2018. The new roofs will have a 20-year warranty.
The board presented Living the Mission awards to departing members Susan Riley, who fell short of getting enough votes to be elected to another term, and Scott Hansen, who decided not to run for re-election.
During its organizational meeting, Associate District Judge Craig Dreismeier administered the oath of office to Kyle McGlade, Jill Ogg-Gress and John Minshall. The board voted to have Troy Arthur continue as president and elected David Coziahr vice president.
