VIRTUAL PUBLIC SCHOOL INFORMATION SESSION: Washington Connections Academy, a tuition-free virtual public school that opened in 2016, will hold a free information session in Burlington for families interested in learning about its online program. The information session will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, July 24, at the Hampton Inn, 1860 S. Burlington Blvd.

MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Skagit-Island Counties Medical Society is accepting applications for the James Beckner Scholarship or general scholarship. Download the application form at SICMS.org. Deadline for applications is Aug. 31.

COMMUNITY ACTION SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM: Free meals will be available this summer for those 18 and under through Community Action of Skagit County. Dinner will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 23 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 935 Peterson Road, Burlington.

CONCRETE SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM: Free meals will be available this summer for those 18 and under through the Concrete School District. Breakfast will be available from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday through Aug. 2 at the high school cafeteria, 7830 S. Superior Ave.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS MEAL PROGRAM: Free meals will be available this summer for those 18 and under through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County.

At the Anacortes club, 904 Sixth St., through Aug. 25 lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and an afternoon snack will be served from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

At Whitney Elementary, 1200 M Ave. in Anacortes, through Aug. 11 lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

At the Burlington club, 1011 Greenleaf Ave., through Aug. 25 lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon snack from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

At the Mount Vernon club, 1100 N. LaVenture Road, from Aug. 21 to Aug. 25 lunch will be served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Through Aug. 18 a morning snack will be served from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. Through Aug. 25 an afternoon snack will be served from 2 to 2:45 p.m.

At the Sedro-Woolley club, 915 McGarigle St., from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1 lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. Through Aug. 25 an afternoon snack will be served from 3 to 3:45 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM: Summer meals for those 18 and under will be offered Monday through Friday through Aug. 25 at two locations in the Sedro-Woolley School District.

Lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m. at Central Elementary School, 601 Talcott St., while at Cascade Middle School, 905 McGarigle Road, breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

SOROPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIPS: Soroptimist International of Sedro-Woolley has scholarships available for Sedro-Woolley High School and Concrete High School graduates who have completed at least one year of college and will be returning this fall.

Essays explaining future educational goals and a transcript of this year’s grades should be sent to to SIS-W, P.O. Box 249, Sedro-Woolley, 98284, by July 31.

BURLINGTON-EDISON SCHOLARSHIPS: The Burlington-Edison Foundation has scholarship opportunities for district graduates who are sophomores, juniors or seniors in college.

The $1,000 Duane and Arleen Stowe Family Scholarship will be awarded to a Burlington-Edison High School graduate who is entering their junior or senior year in post-secondary education and attending any fully-accredited college or university in Washington state. Applicants must demonstrate a financial need, a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or better and a proven record of community service.

The $1,000 Gene and Lottie Overway Family Scholarship will be awarded to a Burlington-Edison High School graduate who is entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in post-secondary education and attending any fully accredited college or university to study to become a firefighter or EMT.
