Saratoga schools seek help in superintendent search
SARATOGA SPRINGS — The search for a new superintendent of the Saratoga Springs City School District is under way, and the board of education is seeking volunteers to help interview candidates.
Michael Piccirillo announced earlier this year he would resign from the top spot on Dec. 31. Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES District Superintendent James Dexter is coordinating the search for his replacement.
The board of education is hoping to fill the spot by January 2018. As part of an extensive interview process, it expects to invite semi-finalists to Saratoga Springs in September for interviews with two advisory committees composed of multiple stakeholders.
The board is currently seeking parent and community volunteers to serve on the committees, along with members of district administration, teachers’ association, Civil Service Employees Association and students.
Volunteers wanted for East Greenbush school board
EAST GREENBUSH — The East Greenbush Central School District board of education is looking for volunteers to fill a seat recently vacated by board president Shay Harrison.
Harrison resigned in July with two years left to his term, citing “a very demanding and challenging opportunity that will consume a significant amount of time” at his job at a local startup company.
That means the board now needs someone willing to serve in the seat until the next regular election on May 15, 2018.
Interested volunteers should submit a letter of interest and resume to the district clerk’s office at East Greenbush Central School District, 29 Englewood Ave., East Greenbush, NY 12061 by Aug. 14. For more information call 518-207-2535.
