Eugene International sets public meetings
Eugene International High School has scheduled a series of meetings in January for prospective students and their parents.
Meetings will be held at the following campuses at the listed times:
South region: 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, South Eugene High School cafeteria. The meeting will include a French Immersion break-out session. 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, South Eugene High School cafeteria (joint session with South; South information 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Eugene IHS information 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), 400 E 19th Ave.
Sheldon region: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, Sheldon lecture hall (includes Spanish Immersion break-out session); 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, Sheldon lecture hall, 2455 Willakenzie Road.
Churchill region: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, Churchill High School cafeteria, 1850 Bailey Hill Road.
Eugene IHS is open to any student who wishes to attend via the Eugene School District lottery. www.ihs.4j.lane.edu.
Oak Hill students take center stage
The Oak Hill School theater department has announced the debut of the newest dramatic work by brothers Robert and Timothy Turner, current 10th grade students at the Eugene school. “… A Play” debuts at 7 p.m. Jan. 13, with additional performances at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 14, at the Lane Community College (LCC) Blue Door Theater.
Admission is free; donations accepted at the door.
Proceeds support the OHS Theater Department. Parental guidance is suggested for audience members 14 and younger.
Eugene taking school choice applications
The Eugene School District is accepting school choice requests now. Families are invited to explore their options and to apply for the 2018–19 school year.
Requests will be accepted in an order determined by lottery. The application period for district residents (“school choice”) began Jan. 1 and continues to midnight Jan. 31. The application period for families who live outside the Eugene School District 4J (“open enrollment”) is Thursday, March 1 to midnight April 1. See the schedule at www.4j.lane.edu/choice.
School choice information meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the District Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St., Eugene
Spanish interpretation will be provided.
Eugene to hold community meeting
Superintendent Gustavo Balderas will conduct a community meeting on the Eugene School District’s Vision 20/20 Strategic Plan from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, at Roosevelt Middle School, 500 E. 24th Ave.
Parents, students, staff and community members are invited.
The plan is a roadmap to guide the school district for the next three to five years.
