NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Schools is getting millions of extra dollars from the federal government through a grant.
In just the last week, the U.S. Department of Education has awarded Metro nearly $24 million to help improve our schools.
Schools Director Dr. Shawn Joseph made the announcement Monday. Most of the money will be used to convert five struggling elementary schools into magnet schools.
The rest will be used to help fund art programs, expand the Pre-k program and enhance professional development for teachers.
