Kennesaw State University’s College of Continuing and Professional Education has added the following certificates to its programs approved for VA education benefits — Administrative Office Management, AutoCAD Advanced, Ethical Hacker and Security Management Professional. Active duty and honorably discharged members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and National Guard may qualify for military education benefits. These benefits may provide reimbursement for certificate programs, based upon GI Bill coverage and length of service.
“Continuing education programs offer something for everyone,” said Barbara Calhoun, dean. “These programs are stepping stones to building a successful career.”
Administrative Office Management is designed for those currently on a managerial career track. This course teaches current principles and concepts including information management, technology, communications office systems and administrative procedures. It can help those prepare for the International Association of Administrative Professionals’ Certification in Organizational Management.
In the AutoCAD Advanced program, students will advance their skills in the AutoCAD workspace and gain the final pieces of knowledge needed to pursue the Autodesk certification after the class. In class, students will create advanced dynamic blocks and attributes and learn about sheet sets. A hands-on project is incorporated and can be used for a professional portfolio.
The Ethical Hacker certificate is for those interested in becoming an expert who systematically attempts to penetrate a computer system or network on behalf of its owners for the purpose of finding security vulnerabilities that a malicious hacker could potentially exploit. By identifying weaknesses in target systems, students will use the same methods and tolls as a hacker, but in a lawful and ethical manner to evaluate the target system’s security.
In the Security Management Professional program, students will learn several facets of the security industry and gain exposure to different topics within the field. This course will introduce the fundamentals of private security, including the basics of the industry, knowledge of legal requirements, concepts and overall understanding of the security industry.
