NEWBURYPORT – The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation recently donated $4,000 to the Coastal Homebuyer Education, Inc. to help fund the cost of first-time homebuyer training programs.
In a press release, President and CEO Janice C. Morse said, “We are pleased to support the Coastal Homebuyer Education, Inc., whose programs provide the educational needs and tools for first-time homebuyers looking to qualify for a loan or an affordable housing opportunity.”
Coastal Homebuyer offers homebuyer education programs for the general public. Curriculum includes information on obtaining a mortgage, how to work with realtors, homebuyer inspectors, and lawyers, how to purchase insurance, and special issues for condominiums and multi-family homes.
Newburyport Five Cents Savings Charitable Foundation, Inc. was established in 2003 to continue the bank’s long history of community involvement. Supported solely by Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, the foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations within the Greater Newburyport and Seacoast areas. Since the foundation’s inception the bank has contributed more than $4 million to the foundation which has then made awards exceeding $1 million.
