Oakland County offering free financial education training

Oakland County Michigan Works! is partnering with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to offer financial education training during National Money Smart Week.

The 26 seminars will be held from April 21 through 28 as part of the national financial education campaign, which was formed in 2002, to help consumers save money and make smart decisions.

The free seminars will be taught by experts from local banks, credit unions, investment firms and realty offices and held at the Oakland Michigan Works! Service centers in Ferndale, Highland, Novi, Oak Park, Pontiac, Southfield, Troy and Waterford.

Topics include debt management, household budgeting, smart spending habits, understanding credit, saving strategies, identity theft protection, teaching children about money and retirement planning.
