School Fair Expected to Draw 1000+ to Explore K12 Education Options, Scholarships Awarded

OKLAHOMA CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–More than 1,000 parents and students will learn more about the school
choice options available to them at a school fair hosted at Oklahoma
City University’s Meinders School of Business.

The event, planned for January 24 at 4:00 p.m., will welcome families
from across the area to meet with school leaders and learn more about
education opportunities. Additionally, through a partnership with the
Opportunity Scholarship Fund, there will be three $15,000 scholarships
awarded during the event.

The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity for parents to
explore options for their children’s education. The celebration is timed
to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 21-27, 2018),
which will feature more than 32,000 events across the country.

“We’re excited to bring together families in Oklahoma to celebrate
school choice week with another school fair this January,” said Robert
Ruiz, president of the Scissortail Community Development Corporation.
“Every year this event grows larger and larger because the demand for
higher quality education options continues to build momentum. We
understand that parents in Oklahoma want education choices for their
children and we’re excited to empower them with the tools to help make
those decisions.”

The lead organization planning the event is ChoiceMatters, in
partnership with the Opportunity Scholarship Fund.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public
awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective
education options for every child. Through more than 32,000
independently planned events across the country, National School Choice
Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices
available to children. These options include traditional public schools,
public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private
schools, and homeschooling.
