Some college students travel or study abroad to enhance their learning. Why shouldn’t the faculty, administrators and innovators who shape students’ on-campus education experience do the same?
Conferences offer a place to network, grow perspective and skills—and not to mention some much-needed leisurely exploration! So we’ve compiled a list of the education technology events for the higher-ed community happening across the world in 2018. (This is by no means an exhaustive list, so make sure to check out our events page to keep posted on upcoming events near you.)
In this free, downloadable calendar, we’ve updated information on some of edtech’s most popular higher-ed conferences, including Achieveing the Dream’s DREAM conference and the EDUCAUSE national convening. Some new events have also been added, including the New York Times’ invite-only gathering for higher education leaders, and the Connect Higher Education Summit by LearningHouse.
At EdSurge, we frequently attend these gatherings, report from them and invite conference go-ers to share what they’ve learned as well. And for any K-12 followers out there, we’re also hosting our own event this fall! On October 2-4, our Fusion conference returns to Burlingame, Calif., gathering hundreds of education leaders, thinkers, researchers around learning, equity and technology.
EdSurge HigherEd also regularly hosts meetups and workshops on online learning and higher education technology. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and subscribe to our higher-ed newsletter, Next, to stay up to date on those opportunities.
The calendar below names more than 50 edtech conferences happening this year. We’ve included dates, location, a brief description as well as category to help you decide what’s right for you. For the few events where dates and location are still pending, you’ll see “TBD.” You can also click on the events for a link to their website to find out more.

In case you’re wondering…
Gold, red, green, blue: What do these colors mean?
There are a lot of conferences on this list (now 54 to be exact). To help narrow things down, we’ve designated the primary audience for each event:
- Blue events focus on teaching and learning and are targeted at educators (though some of these events involve exhibitor halls).
- Red events emphasize the business of edtech more than pedagogy.
- Gold events are tightly focused around a topic or specific audience, such as libraries or community colleges.
- Green events are oriented around a specific product or company.
Your link took me to a conference that already happened or doesn’t exist yet. What gives?
We confirmed with conference organizers all dates for future events that aren’t yet listed on their site. We linked to the most relevant webpages we could find; pages that appear outdated should be updated by the organizers in the coming months.
Aw, you left out my favorite event!
