WEST SPRINGFIELD — For the third year in a row, the nonprofit West Springfield Partnership for Education has received a $5,000 donation from Alden Medical LLC’s matching gifts program.
In order to receive a total donation of $15,000 from Alden Medical, the Partnership for Education was challenged to raise $5,000 by July 2016 and another $5,000 by July 2017, reaching both of its fundraising goals.
Partnership for Education President Kevin McQuillan, who is also the school district’s assistant superintendent, said the donations by Alden Medical “embody the business community’s support” for West Side schools and ensure the continuity of the partnership’s mini-grant programs for students and teachers in the town’s public, parochial and private schools.
McQuillan was recently joined by West Springfield School District Superintendent Michael J. Richard, John R. Fausey Elementary School Assistant Principal Kathleen Morneau, who serves as vice president of the Partnership for Education, and Damon D’Amico, president of Alden Medical, at a ceremony to acknowledge the gift.
The West Springfield Partnership for Education was established to focus human and material resources on improving the quality of education and community support for the town’s public, parochial and private schools. Information is available online at https://sites.google.com/site/wspedu.
